We have been working hard these past few months to roll out one of our largest (and most exciting) releases to date! It is called the VideoPlus Package. Clients will get two beautiful HD Screens mounted 8 feet high on trusses.

After months of researching the best TVs, we have decided to get 50-inch LG plasmas. We would like to take this time to explain more about the software used to run this set up, what kind of events would want screens, and finally how the VideoPlus package is different.

Software

When Live AZ DJ started, we made a promise to only use the industry standard equipment and nothing less. With the VideoPlus Package, this has not changed. For Video DJing we are using MixEmergency with Serato.  These will obviously be paired with the TTM 57 SL and either two Technics 1200s or two Pioneer CDJ-2000s.

We professionally train all of our DJs to properly use Serato and MixEmergency. We encourage them to come in and practice whenever they have time.

This way, we know when we send them out, our clients get nothing but the best!

Is VideoPlus Right for you?

When we were designing how the Video package would work, we considered projectors, LCD TVs, and many other screen projection systems. The reason we choose 50 Inch plasmas is that it is big enough for a large crowd but small enough to fit in tight places.

The VideoPlus Difference

Other companies that offer “Video” DJing use ugly visualizations from Windows Media Player, Blurry (and dim) Projectors, and they take up massive amounts of room! With Live AZ DJ you do not get “Ugly Visualization” you get Music Videos and good ones too! Our TVs do not get dim and do not need time to warm up. Food

There is nothing more classic then the American Cheeseburger and Hot Dog. When your guests arrive at your party most of them would like to walk around and talk. Chances are they will not be doing a lot of sitting down. Try to have your food cater to this idea. Make small appetizers or something that can easily be carried while you are standing. Try avoiding foods that use a fork and a knife.

Here are some Ideas you could try:

• Sliders
• Hot Dogs
• Jalapeño Poppers wrapped in bacon
• BBQ Chicken Wings

These are all foods that can easily be cooked on a grill and served on simple plates.

Entertainment

This portion can be a bit tricky. Every crowd is different and we can’t just say “put on some classic American Country music and you should be fine.”

If you plan to have dancing with a younger generation expect to play some Pop Music. Make room for the dance floor and idolize it. Make that area well lit while the others are more dimmed and also do not put the dance floor off to the side but make it the main attraction. Nothing is worse then having an empty dance floor.

If you plan to just have background music, plug in an Internet Radio like Pandora or iHeartRadio. Let your guests choose the station but do not allow for volume control or it will end up too loud by the end of the party.

Games

Games are just a way to keep your guests entertained. The perfect type of game for a backyard party is something that does not take up a lot of room, is simple, and preferably played in groups.
Some Ideas we would recommend:

• Bean Bag toss
• Horse Shoes
• Darts
• Or a simple water balloon fight

Decorations

This is one of the most important sections and should be the main aspect of your party. If your event is during the day, it will be a lot easier for you. If it is at night, you will have to spend a lot of time on lighting. A well-lit area will seem a lot more elegant and it will set the proper mood.

A simple lighting trick that has always stood out at events is Lighting Strings. Amazon sells them cheap however, they always pop up on the Phoenix Craigslist Page.

Also, do not forget about the classic Tiki Torch! Once again, Amazon has them for cheap but practically any store around the valley will carry them.

As far as decorating the rest, besides the lighting, make sure to use a lot of Red, White, and Blue. Some items you can get include Plates, Cups, and Ribbons. There is no standard for decorating a Forth of July party. Just stick to whatever comes to your imagination.

Finally, make sure everything you do, whether it is food or decoration, is low maintenance. There is nothing worse then a stressed out host or having to fix things up during your party. Have fun and Enjoy!

DJing is an Art

You can’t really base anything on price alone. Usually the more expensive the DJ is, the more experience, and the better your event will be. but this is not the case all of the time.

Keep this in mind when asking for discounts. Think about it. If you think you can hire some guy for $100, how much experience do you really think they have? Not just that, but how good are the speakers and lights going to be as-well? What you’re probably going to get is a some kid that bought some speakers from a garage sale, that will throw you a party for $100. The system will probably not be loud enough, or too loud. They won’t have lights, or if they do, very simple cheap lights. They’ll have an incomplete music collection and probably next to no knowledge of music.

Friendly and Appreciative

If the DJ that you’re hiring doesn’t look friendly, what are the chances that he/she will be at the event. The last thing that you want is a depressed middle aged man yelling at everyone. While not a common scenario, it might happen. You never know.  :-)

Professional

You want somebody that appears professional. Everything from their website, business cards, to attire. If their website looks like it was made in ’95. What does that tell you about the company. Keep this in mind when looking for disc jockey services.

How to chose the perfect DJ

Ultimately, everything comes down to money. You want the best of the best, buy you’re not looking to spend $1500 for a sweet-16 party. So look at something moderately priced. Take advantage of newer companies as they usually give big discounts!

I am sure that all of you like to go to parties every once in a while. Parties are a good place where people can socialize and mingle. But some parties can be really boring even if the food is good and the music and the other things are great as well. The thing that these parties lack is atmosphere. If you will want to get a really nice party going then you should invite people to have fun. You should not force them to get on the dance floor but you should make them feel comfortable about dancing. The best way of doing this is to avoid letting the lights on.

Lights are really important at parties because they can make people feel better about getting on the dance floor. Lights might also be able to introduce a certain feeling in people that will want to dance. Mild lights can really make people go and dance slowly and talk things about themselves. Let us not mention that this is a really romantic thing. More ‘aggressive’ lights will make people dance really fast. Of course, these lights should be selected depending to the music that plays at that party.

The most important thing about lights at parties is that they can create a certain mood. If you want people to jump up and down and rave then you should use some really flashy and powerful lights. They should also be colorful. You can use spot lights and also lasers. Lasers are really popular as party lights! If you will want to create a calm mood then you should use little light and use warm lights. This will make a really calm and romantic mood and you will see how people will start dancing in a really romantic way.

But you should know that lights need to be in direct connection with the music. If you will play slow music you shouldn’t use flashy and fast lights. This will only ruin the mood of some people who would probably want to have a nice slow and romantic dance. This means that even if the lights are really important at a party they should not be used in the wrong way because in this case they will only manage to annoy lots of people instead of creating the perfect mood for a party!

Anytime you will attend a party you should check out the lighting. The lights are the ice breaker at any party where people don’t really know each other.

If you ever thought about quitting a job and letting everybody know, do it on the radio! While she will never get hired as a radio DJ again, she doesn’t care and why should she? Most get paid minimum wage and is not worth the hassle when there is better jobs out there.
